With opportunities bounding, there has been significant residential development in Cascade in recent years. In 2020, the city issued building permits for 45 residences worth upwards of $2.3 million. Build the home of your dreams in “A Place We Call Home.” Cascade has a number of subdivisions and affordable lots for sale (ranging from $20,000 to $40,000). If building a home is not an option, according to the East Central Iowa Multiple Listing Service, the average home sale price in Cascade was $175,523 in 2020.

Education
There are two elementary Schools in cascade offering public & parochial education as well as a public high school. Cascade high school prides itself in excelling in academics, athletics & other extracurricular activities and annually earns recognition for preparing students well for college. Typically more than 98% of cascade high school’s students graduate. College-level credit is offered with some students graduating with twenty or more hours of college credit. Cascade high school also partners with regional academics at NICC in Peosta and the Jones Country Regional Center though Kirkwood in Monticello.
Cascade is nestled between a multitude of different higher education establishments with a total student population of more than 60,000 within a 60 mile radius.
Dubuque County is home to five colleges. Clarke University is a Catholic, co-educational, liberal arts institution founded in 1843 and is the only BVM College in the United States. Loras College is a four-year, Catholic, coeducational, liberal arts college founded in 1839. The University of Dubuque (UD) is a small, private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) founded in 1852 offering undergraduate, graduate, and theological seminary programs.

Cascade has access to two quality community colleges: Northeast Iowa Community College and Kirkwood Community College. Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) provides accessible, affordable, quality education and training to meet the needs of our communities. Kirkwood Community College’s main campus is located in Cedar Rapids and serving the Jones county area. Jones Regional Education Center in Monticello is also affiliated with Kirkwood Community College. This center was established to provide high school students with the opportunity to take college-level courses. The center also has a greater focus on the skilled trades.

Health & RecreationCascade has many recreational options including four community parks: Riverview park Cascade is home to an award-winning American Legion Post 528 baseball field and Coohey Memorial riverside – walking/biking trail. One of Cascade’s most beautiful landmarks is the historic silo by Riverview park. The improved City Hall Memorial gym is host to many youth and adult sports programs. In addition, Cascade has a bowling alley and campground.
